Symptoms
The first gonorrhea
symptoms generally appear within two to 10 days after
exposure to the bacterium. Typical symptoms include a
discharge of thick yellow-green fluid from the penis
or vagina; fever, pain or burning when urinating. The
sex organs may become red, swollen, and itchy. Some
women who have gonorrhea may show no signs; others may
develop a smelly vaginal discharge or have pain during
intercourse.
Treatment
Doctors prescribe antibiotic medications for gonorrhea
treatment. Be sure to take them exactly as prescribed.
Even if you think you are well, use the entire
prescription. It's important that you take the full
course of medication, some bacteria may remain to
re-infect you.
